Amazon honcho and mega-billionaire Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post a dozen years ago. At the time, Bezos had (at least in my estimation) some libertarian vibes about him, so I had hopes he would steer the paper's editorial slant in a pro-freedom direction.
Alas, my hopes didn't materialize, and WaPo persisted in its big-government and hard-left ways.
Then came the 2024 Presidential election, and the Left's utter wipeout against a widely disliked and heavily baggaged opponent. The Left is in disarray, with a "Resist We Much" faction demanding defiance and a "we've gone off the deep end" faction preaching moderation, retrenchment, and rejection of the looniest progressive notions in favor of what most of the public wants.
Now, a few weeks into the current political cycle, the legacy media has finally shaken themselves out of their shell shock, and the retrenchments have begun.
