Affordability And Inflation
Today, I have to hand it to the Democrats. They took a problem they created and turned it into a rallying cry.
The title tells the tale. Biden’s reckless spending, which made Trump’s “let’s firehose money at the pandemic” behavior look like nickels and dimes, devalued the US dollar by 25% and counting. While the latest inflation figure is down to about 2.5%, which is pretty close to the Fed’s 2% target, the nation is still printing money to cover Biden’s signature programs (not to mention Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill), so the Fed will have to keep slowing the economy via high interest rates to keep the inflation monster in check.
Rather than say “our spending prompted the money printing that produced that devaluation of the dollar and made Americans’ lives more expensive, so let’s undo,” the culprits rebranded “inflation” as “affordability,” and blamed it on the government not doing/spending enough.
And people are buying it.
