In times of yore, kings and noblemen would have "fools" in their courts. Also known as jesters or jokers, they would provide entertainment of various sorts, including music (some translations refer to "balladeers"), story telling, clowning around, juggling, and the like. They also served, at least in some courts and by some versions of history, a particular political role. Granted some degree of immunity from punishment for the insults they delivered, the fools were purportedly tasked with pointing out policy absurdities via sarcasm or mockery.
Sarcasm and mockery, aptly applied and delivered, can be powerful means of rebuttal, especially when the target (person or idea) deserves rebuttal.
It seems to me that no one in America, or perhaps the world, could benefit more from having a "fool" in his orbit than Joe Biden.
