Libertarianism focuses on the individual. In present day, that makes it a philosophy in the wilderness, alone or nearly so, with a few scatered neighbors such as the anarchists and the Objectivists who are more interested in haggling the differences than embracing the commonality.
The big political labels, on the other hand, elevate group over individual. The Left has been doing this for decades and the Right has stopped pretending otherwise. For proof of the latter, check how often "RINO" accusations have crossed your socia media feed, and consider how many refuse to criticize Trump even when he does criticizable things.
Today's bit is about the former, and in particular the miscomprehension of the concept of equality that is both parent and offspring of its fixation on groups over individuals.
Here's a phrase you might not have heard in a while - or perhaps ever: "Disparate Impact."
