It’s going to take a reset imho. There has been so many safety backstops provided for everyone it’s really ripped the fabric our nation was built on. It’s going to take an overhaul of the federal government and put much more responsibility back in the state and local level. People have little fear of truly failing right now. There is always some government intervention somewhere to help. People, myself included have feared failure and it forced me to do what ever it took to survive and eventually thrive. That mindset is a valuable asset to our society. Knowing you might not eat or have money to pay for a car, phone, home etc is a driving force that has been deleveraged way too much imho.
"Konstantin Kisin is one of many who have noted that a multiethnic nation can thrive, but a multicultural one cannot."
Exactly. Excellent article.
I'm glad you enjoyed your time in New York City. A couple of weeks later, the week of the Fourth of July was also exciting -- and showed the real spirit of the city. (Despite, as so many smugly and tiresomely point out to me, the absence of the mayor's wife, and the scowling Islamist's hateful wordy sermon on the day.)
It was a time when the locals came out to watch an international armada stream into our harbor and aircraft fly overhead, board ships, talk with the sailors whose presence was everywhere, watch fireworks, and mingle with millions of tourists who arrived from all over the country. It was good.
Now it's over. For this 72-year-old native Brooklynite, my hometown is curiously quiet.
But New York City too is worse off for its new multiculturalism. It thrived from the get-go as a multi-ethnic city. Roman law, brought in with the enterprising Dutch, and not English Common Law as practiced by lofty New Englanders, gave us an excellent start. We'll see what our future holds.
When so much, if not all, of the hate America (and Israel) group has obviously been a product of the ivory towers of higher education, it seems to me that those institutions should not be receiving government funding. Sometimes too much freedom is all it takes to ruin a nation. 😢
Hating your country isn't natural - it's learned behavior. People naturally want to love their country and must be taught to hate it.
Amen!

This was a great piece, I hope it’s one of your free ones so more people can access it. 🇺🇸🙏
Thanks and yes. Weekdays are free. Sundays are paywalled.

Fellow Brooklynite here, about a decade behind you.
And with the same ethnicity. Γεια σου!

I'd be fine with zeroing out all federal funding of tertiary education.
