I agree with your smile. I just hope the GOP holds the course long enough for the provisions that allow the President to start eliminating the nonessential employees, departments and maybe entire agencies to kick in! The baby and the bathwater both need to go!

At this point, America would be better of if the federal government remained shut down permanently and all the government "programs" were allowed to end.

Americans need to stop viewing the government as a charity or service organization and realize that it exists to *govern.* For the most part, the federal government's role is supposed to be handling foreign affairs on behalf of the states (that doesn't mean involving us in or funding foreign wars), and very little domestically other than coining money, protecting our borders, and issuing time-limited patents and copyrights. We would have far less debt, far lower taxes, and far more liberty if we were to return the federal government to its originally-intended purpose. But I don't think that toothpaste is ever going back in the tube.
