I think there is a tremendous amount of wishful thinking in the DSA folks' brain pans. They ignore the lessons of history because those lessons contradict their "great ideas."
Previous mayors voiced the "NYC is so cool, they won't leave even if we tax them more" mantra before. It proved wrong then, it'll prove wrong now.
Especially as tech continues to advance and the benefits of being in NYC for business become thinner.
One can only hope that the impending disasters in NYC will be lessons learned across other metropolises. I doubt it , but it could happen. I see no other silver linings.

We witnessed the wane of BLM and cancel culture, the ebbing of trans-activism, and other progressive fads. We can hope that DSA follows the same path.
