I don't pay much attention to the LP, for the reasons you note and more. It's a playground for nutters, as much as anything else. More germanely, I believe Duverger's Law, which points at a two party outcome for systems such as ours, so I'd rather put my efforts into moving both majors in the libertarian direction.
