As Ivy League campus occupations by pro-Hamas students persist, and as Jewish students in those universities continue to be denied even a pretext of the safe spaces that college kids endlessly whinge about, my dismay about how and why those students picked the side they did grows and grows.
There is a very successful narrative out there about how Israel, a successful Westernized culture and democracy that is a tiny sliver of desert nestled in a vast stretch of Muslim lands, is an oppressor state.
No matter that Israel's total area is 0.0007% of the combined lands of the word's Muslim nations.
No matter that Israel is the home of 1.7M Muslims (18% of her total populace).
No matter that Gaza was purged of Jews years ago.
No matter that LGBT and women's rights are far better in Israel than in Islam.
No matter that Israel is a far freer and more successful society than kleptocratically-run Gaza.
No matter that Palestinians could have a two-state solution tomorrow, if they wanted it.
Why has this narrative taken hold with today's youth?
