The Islamist Long Con

Editor's Note: Today’s article continues my twice-monthly-or-so practice of thanking my paid subscribers (and not-so-subtly encouraging upgrades). Behind the wall is a look at how billions in petrodollars are being used to market and intertwine a fundamentalist form of Islam into western society.

I've often commented on the growing divide - and rift - between liberals and leftists. In matters of free speech, self-determination, and more, the Left is abandoning traditional liberalism in favor of coercion and authoritarianism. The 60's-era hippies who railed against the Establishment are a quaint memory. Today's loudest voices on the Left are all for the Establishment, as long as it's their Establishment.

Similarly, there is a divide between Muslims and Islamists, and it's a distinction that's becoming increasingly vital to understand.
