The Mask Comes Off...
The socialists have been surging, and they know it. Their anti-America message has been selling, abetted by aggressive and massive agitprop campaigns by the Chinese and other malevolent foreign actors, and amplified by the mantra-regurgitating “sheep” that Orwell warned us about in Animal farm.
It’s a rough time to be a believer in freedom and self-determination, because the socialists have no interest in either. While they’ve been relying on a lot of generic hand-waving as to what they’re actually about for the past few years (I noticed they had scrubbed their platform of the most overt messaging for a while), it appears that their success has emboldened them to “shoot the moon,” as the saying goes.
Behold, their newly-released platform.
I’ll save you the click. Here’s what they want to do:
Establish paid family leave for all workers, a 32 hour work week with full pay and benefits, and a living minimum wage.
Provide free, quality public education from pre-K to college and cancel all student debt.
Guarantee universal healthcare at no cost to individuals, including complete access to reproductive and gender-affirming care.
Expand healthcare access and quality by investing in new public hospitals and clinics.
Make all medical education and training public and free.
Build new, publicly-owned social housing, strictly regulate investment properties, establish universal rent control, and guarantee right to counsel for all tenants.
Enact reparations and massively invest in good jobs, quality housing and infrastructure in neglected minority communities.
Demilitarize police departments, disempower police unions, and redirect funding to public services as steps towards fully abolishing the police and prison system which protects the rich and jails the poor.
End qualified immunity and empower civilian oversight bodies with real authority over the police.
Stop gender violence and end policies that oppress bodily autonomy and intimate life, including patriarchal restrictions on abortion, childbirth and childraising, gender expression and transition, marriage, and divorce.
Ban sex discrimination and ensure fair compensation and support for all forms of labor, including care work.
Pass a federal jobs guarantee.
Implement massive investment in sustainable, publicly owned energy and transit infrastructure.
Phase out the use of fossil fuels.
Defund the Department of War.
End all foreign wars and close overseas military bases.
Support and fully employ veterans.
End immunity for U.S. war criminals and support the International Criminal Court’s mandate to prosecute war crimes.
Recognize the rights of the Palestinian people, including the right of return, the right to resist military occupation, and the right to self determination in a free Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
End all military and economic aid to Israel.
Prosecute U.S. and Israeli leaders responsible for the genocide in Gaza.
End ICE detention and deportations and punish federal agents’ brutality.
Legalize migration, grant amnesty for all immigrants regardless of status, provide a path to citizenship for all permanent residents, and end visa caps and quotas.
Extend full voting rights to all permanent U.S. residents and restore the right to vote for incarcerated people and people with criminal convictions.
Establish statehood for Washington D.C. and recognize the right to self-determination for all U.S. territories and colonies.
[G]et rid of lobbyists, dark money, and Citizens United, and publicly finance all elections.
Abolish the Electoral College.
Replace the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.
Replace the two-party system with a multi-party democracy.
Expand the House of Representatives, implement proportional representation and ranked choice voting in all elections, and abolish the Senate.
Establish public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries to ensure democratic control and accountability to the people.
Enact aggressive wealth taxes on the richest individuals and corporations to spend on public goods and infrastructure.
Protect, expand, and enforce the rights of all workers to form, join, and strike with their unions, regardless of industry.
Their list is the product of childish, utopian thinking founded upon a combination of envy of success, hatred of Jews, and hatred of America herself. It simultaneously declares distrust of people and total empowerment of people to run every aspect of our lives by force and confiscation. It is the same communist garbage that murdered over a hundred million people and impoverished billions last century, presented as something bold and new.
Of course, they don’t explain where they’ll get the money for all this, or how an economy is supposed to run with everyone guaranteed money and services.
They realize they don’t have to explain, sad to say. Young people, having their heads filled with garbage and unfulfillable promises and never having been taught anything remotely resembling critical thinking skills, hear all these promises and holler “Yessssss!!!!”
It’s as I’ve written time and again. Socialists always figure to be on the receiving end of Marx’s “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” Promise to give them Other People’s Money, and the brainwashed fools fall for it.
The platform is an armed robber’s manifesto, promising to nationalize the entire economy, steal everything anyone has invested in the stock market (that includes your 401Ks, by the way), and dole it out however those in charge decide.
The DSA is an existential threat to the United States. Its goal is a complete subversion of everything this nation stands for, everything that made it the greatest nation in history... and all your liberties. Socialism is incompatible with individual freedom. Your speech, the press, your gun rights, and more stand in their way, so they must be quashed.
The young fools who voted DSA candidates into office don’t care about your rights, either, by the way. Yes, they are being suckered, but their anti-liberty mindset makes them more than just deluded naifs. They, too, are enemies of everything that makes America what it is.
The mainstream Democrats are slowly waking up to this threat, but lifetimes of tribal loyalty and maniacal hatred of the Right make it far more likely they will abet the DSA takeover than reject it.
I’m sure the excuse will be “it can’t be that bad,” and “they won’t get any of this,” and “we’ll run things as we want after we win,” but we see how brazen DSA politicians who have won office are, and no one should believe that they will temper their ambitions if their ranks among the elected grow.
This is some scary shit. It’s a slow-rolling disaster. The threat cannot be overstated. The DSA may very well be the end of the American Experiment.

DSA takes advantage of the electoral system where a tiny fraction of registered voters turn out to vote in the primary - 21% of registered voters in Mandani's case. Win a bare plurality in the primary and with a (D) behind your name in the general election, you're in. And of course, Dems constructed the election rules to force that outcome in their favor. So to hear the Dem establishment today wailing about this situation - which they designed themselves - I have no words to comfort them.
So what can the rest of us do? Vote. Vote in EVERY election you can. And yes, do your due diligence before you cast that vote - even for dog catcher. Due diligence on local candidates has never been easier - use AI to bring up the biography and positions on every candidate on the ballot. It's not hard to be an informed voter.
Well said Peter. Sadly even my great state of Nebraska, deep red, is not completely immune from this disease. A young friend of mine shared a post about Bernie Sanders and his proposal to confiscate other's wealth and said, "I always believed in you Bernie", or something like that. I think you're exactly right - keep pointing out the insanity of these proposals. And I think us "normal folk" (those of us without a formal platform/ blog/ political office) need to start speaking up as well. Sure, we may be speaking into an echo chamber, but maybe we end up reaching someone who will then continue the thread
