The Smothering Comforter

Tell me if you’ve ever encountered this particular critter out of the socialist bestiary: the “I’m fine foregoing some growth if it means everyone gets taken care of.”

That comment, in whatever form, used to set my teeth on edge in the long-ago time when I actually gave the benefit of the intellectual doubt to the random others I’d encounter in political sandboxes. Now, it doesn’t bother me viscerally, despite it remaining as ignorant and offensive today as it was decades back. That ignorance just makes me shake my head today.
