Reading social media on a regular basis eventually attunes you to the reality that most of what people post is repetition of things they heard or read from sources that align with their worldviews.
It’s been disappointing to watch people voluntarily give up so much in exchange for “ more security “. The results of the scamdemic have anchored more to government control, and on the flip side the people that really lost trust in government don’t get much coverage on the legacy media. We just have to keep up the good fight for less government and more personal responsibility. Hopefully we can get more traction 🤞🙏🇺🇸
Great piece today. You hit the nail on the head with this paragraph (and others):
"I’ve gotta hand it to the socialists. They’ve managed to rehabilitate the image of a murderous and destructive ideology by adding “democratic” to the front of it and by peddling class and race envy. The naivete of the gullible would be funny were it not so dangerous."
The knee-jerk impulse for the average citizen to want government to "do something" any time an adverse situation arises has never ceased to amaze me. Perhaps it was my growing up with an "I'll do it" mentality that made me different. When I see something broken, unlike the majority of those I know, my first reaction isn't to call someone to fix it. I do everything I can to fix it myself. Only after I have exhausted all avenues available (including purchasing a new whatever), or when the job requires truly specialized knowledge and/or tools that I cannot hope to possess within a reasonable amount of time, do I consider seeking outside help.
But it is those base human characteristics of greed, envy, selfishness that the socialists target and so easily take adavantage of. So people hear a promise (as you stated) and believe it, even if somewhere deep down inside they know it will never be fulfilled.
The trust and dependence on government is something, like yourself, I've lamented for a long time and quite often. I just don't see how, even if there was another revolution, you can change the mindset of so many. Perhaps they will just have to learn the lesson the way so many have - through suffering the misery of getting what they ask for.
Well said! And, glad to know I'm not the only one with an, "I'll do it" mentality.
In fact, I just corrected a small problem at work the other day. Just a drain that got clogged, nothing major. My manager saw it, and when I said I'd been meaning to fix it, he said he'd put a work order in to get it fixed. I walked over, pulled the cover off, swished my hand over the grate to clear the gunk and put the cover back. Then I wiped my hand on my jeans and went back to work. Not sure which thing he was more surprised at, wiping my hand on my jeans or fixing the drainage issue, lol!
Excellent article Peter, as usual! A couple of devilishly effective obstacles stand in the way of pointing out the folly of big government: One is Public Education, which allows leftists to reach those young, impressionable minds and teach them to trust politicians. The 2nd one is social media, where people (especially the young) only get "information" from others with like minds; and that would be other leftists and progressives.
Great article Peter. I've been immersing myself in political posts on Facebook more than usual lately. Wowza! Just the subject of socialism alone, and the ignorance about what it really is, has been mind-numbing. Even here in red Nebraska. I don't want to say we're doomed, but damn. It's hard to have faith in society after reading some of those comments

We need more of that mentality in this country (maybe even in my house, LOL).

I constantly have to remind myself that I may not be communicating with real people - or honest people.
