It appears there’s finally a resolution at hand to the two year long war in Gaza, with both Israel and Hamas signing on to a peace plan negotiated by Trump and his proxies.
Getting Hamas to release the hostages forfeited their sole bargaining chip in the current stalemate. It is key to any chance of progress moving forward. I am hopeful.
Thanks, Peter, for the excellent post. It does appear now that Trump Derangement Syndrome is incurable for many people on the left. The hate has consumed their souls so much that they can no longer function as rational humans. TDS is rapidly killing the Democratic Party. Its demise can’t come soon enough.
Also remember that on 10/6/23 there was talk of an Israeli-Saudi recognition and peace deal that would likely have included some language on a path for Palestinian self determination. Hamas wanted to derail that effort.
We all know why there’s no celebration of a cease fire that they were supposedly agitating for. ‘Cease fire’ to them never meant just to stop the fighting … cease fire to them always translates to the annihilation of Israel as a nation and all its people.
The story in that part of the world is so old and fueled by so much emotion that effective peace solutions will take time. Small steps. Today, one was taken. It doesn't matter who helped things along that yellow brick road.
They have yet to decide what the new outrage will be. Trump has only stalled the perpetual outrage mob. There are anti ICE jobs waiting and many did turn their backs on Ukraine for this. They can alway regroup to either of these causes with new protest attire. Wait for it.
Also I do not hold my breath that peace with Gaza is very long lasting. Not without a great deal of over sight. As you said a new and improve anti Israel terrorist group is likely already in the works and if the USA is going to be throwing money at the rebuild we need to make sure none of it is getting funneled to terrorist.
