" ... countless examples of weak intellects achieving high political stature by peddling, pandering, and proselytizing nonsense." There's one sitting in the White House currently. I doubt Biden's intellect even reaches the low bar of Sanders'. That said, I believe that Sanders does know the difference between the Nordic model's mechanics and the outcome of the policies he proposes here. His is the old communist false promise of equality for all, without telling you that they mean an equal level of slavery led by a small, privileged class of party leaders.

You could substitute the name Biden for Sanders, although until Biden's handlers took over one wouldn't have thought that. Don't forget, Sander was thrown out of a comune for being too lazy. Lazy of thought, lazy of action. What legislation can he point to as an achievement for all the time he's been in office? Pretty much nada.

Enjoyed your post, even more your trend to

"lets drop the pretense, these #### are out to really **** all of us"

after years of dealing in infosec, & the endless stream of lies, liars, and (narci/nihil/cynic)ists authors of lame reasons, now comes the callous and fearless 'no-consequencists' w/o a reckoning real or implied; Sanders and his ilk of crap-encased sycophants.

Well-reasoned, even shrewdly executed insights, shape the indignation we should damm well feel. BUT the guileful, are still:

-doing damage, cruel and vicious

-sewing discord, and drawing succor from the resulting pain

-unafraid of the toothless forces arrayed against them

We know their style, their lies, and outcomes well enough (occasionally their motivations) yet the damage remains, the why is now far less important then a move to blunt such harm.

I'd hope the poets refrain is not ours....

Thus conscience does make cowards of us all; And thus the native hue of resolution

Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought, And enterprises of great pith and moment

With this regard their currents turn awry, And lose the name of action.

I wrote a bit, years ago, called Fresh Fools, that I imported to Substack last spring. There's an allure to socialism that draws the young in, and it takes reality and the understanding of human nature to break free of that siren song. Every year, another batch of kids hits college and reaches voting age. Every year, that same siren song traps a bunch of them.

So, we are left in a perpetual battle to break the spell that befalls every wave of fresh fools.

It's exhausting, but there is no alternative.

Before socialism was cool, envy was considered a sin. What is this 81 year old Marxist hawking other than envy?

Back in the 70s, there was a series called Good Times about a black family living in the projects. One episode really resonated with me. The father had a line on a new job, one that'd pay well enough to feed the family. When he didn't get it, and felt the hard reality of going on welfare, he looked broken.

That attitude is not only fading from the American zeitgeist, it's mocked and decried as racist. That leaves the alternative - taking money from others, as the "virtue."

This is worse than envy. It's armed robbery.
