A lot of ifs. However, Elon and Vivek are ripe for this task. President Trump will call out any “republican” that isn’t on board if necessary imo. For the very first time in my life I actually think we have the best chance and retaking our country with much needed fiscal responsibility and regulation rollbacks. DJT announced yesterday any agency that wants to make a new regulation has to nix 10 current ones. The country is desperate for sweeping changes and rollbacks as well as strict common sense decision making. Time will tell but I’m cheering my ass of for success 🤞👊🗽🇺🇸
Agreed, but the GOP has a problem in its razor-thin margin in the House. A couple jackasses could hold up a lot of progress, and everyone knows it, so many may vie for carveouts and special treatment.
It won't be easy.
I am also hoping that several of his Cabinet picks come in with the "I'm here to put myself out of a job by dismantling my agency" mindset.
The "Close Up Shop Cabinet Chief" always makes me think of Bill Bennett. Great guy, serious and thoughtful conservative, appointed by Reagan to shut down DoE. Even Bennett, with the backing of Ronaldus Magnus, couldn't get it done.
I share your hope, if not level of cautious optimism. My first concern is professional tough feeders in the administration will work late hours to get the funding obligated before Trump takes the reins. Watching them sell off the wall parts and pieces at pennies on the dollar in a frantic flurry of petulance points up this likelihood.
It's always worse than we think or can even imagine. We're once again up against a "shutdown" - or a CR to coast the bloat through to the next "crisis". That CR, like all previous CRs since we last had a "normal budget" in 2008, keeps spending at CURRENT levels - meaning ALL the BS from America Rescue Plan, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Infrastructure Act - everything, on top of all otherwise "normal" appropriations - continues at current levels. Everything - including ALL "emergency" and omnibus spending bills over the past 16 years, continues without expiring. Nothing expires, because CRs continue authorization - meaning the $2T a year deficit-level funding, just keeps on, forever. It never ends.
