Once again Peter hits the nail on the head. Thomas's whole career is riddled with attacks on his race, intellect, and integrity yet he soldiers on with the grace and dignity befitting his office. Though I am no fan of her work on the court I was incredibly heartened to hear Sotomayor speak so well of him, it is a good reminder that even Supreme Court Justices are people too and we should never lose sight of each other's humanity. Again, great article.
Read your last paragraph again and ask the question: how or why anybody would compromise with this ideology? And that is what's driving our "divisive" politics today.
The latest stats I have read put Blacks at 13 percent of the population and 36 percent of the abortions performed in America, highlighting the racist origins of Planned Parenthood by Margaret Sanger in the progressive era of eugenics 100 years ago.
Oddly, Biden’s presidency has restored hope in America to me. It has revealed to us the depth of disconnect between the radical ideology of the left and the innate morality of both black and Hispanic cultures. They lose when they fail to understand this.
There are certain values that are prominent in those communities that are totally at odds with today's Left. Latinos are overwhelmingly Catholic, which brings into question why the Dems presume they should align with the Left, given the abortion absolutism of both the progressive Left and the Catholic Church (on opposite sides, obviously). Similarly, 45% of blacks are baptist, and there's similar anti-abortion dogma therein.
It's not only about abortion, either. The Latino community, insofar as I dare generalize, has shown itself as entrepreneurial and family-oriented. That these attributes are considered "conservative" is also a problem with modern Leftism, and the bigotry that all people of color are by default the Left's voters is wearing thin.
Thank you, Peter, for putting into words what I have been feeling lately and trying to make my grandaughter understand. She is infected by the wokism she's been fed at school and was in high dungeon against Justice Thomas. When I asked why, she indicated that any black person should be aligned with leftist thinking for their own interest. No critical thinking involved and a complete failure to undersatnd the idea of individual independence regarding race. I'm going to have her read this article to maybe, just maybe, get through to her.
Ask her what the Left has actually done for blacks, other than institutionalize poverty and crime.
The presumption that the Left is for whom blacks should vote is a paternalistic bigotry that started with LBJ, who set out to buy their votes and in the process devastated their community.
Not to take any credit from Justice Thomas on the abortion ruling. There's no doubt Thomas and Justice Alito have hamd many conservations about abortion.

❤️ Here in Lake County, Florida, Democrats were murdering Black Folks into the 1950’s. See: Groveland Four.

Poor Alito. He writes the majority opinion and Thomas gets the credit. Or blame, depending upon one's perspective.

"If you don't vote for me then you aint' black." - Joe Biden
I'm not black but if I were I would be so offended by this quote that I would be reluctant to cast my vote for him.
