“The barrage of opinions we each face every day leaves us a choice between constant reaction that will exhaust us, or increasing apathy to most of the deluge. I know which one's healthier. So, if you want something more than apathy from me, earn your opinion. I will try to earn mine.”
I want to be apathetic, but I just can’t get excited about it … AND … I used to be a “crastinator,” and I got so good at it now I’m a “procrastinator”!😁
I've been reading a LOT of great sci-fi over the past year and a theme I've seen several times among several authors is the "quality reputation" associated with various sources of information. That is, in the future, when we've exhausted ourselves of false information and worthless opinion (which the internet currently spreads like wildfire), sources will compete among each other for higher quality reputation scores - and thus, traffic. Sources with high QR ratings get more traffic and thus more revenue. This is starting to emerge today, but still in its infancy and has a long way to go. I realize this is tangential to your point, but we are going through a transitional phase of information usefulness and I hold out hope for the future.
I hope something like that materializes, but I fear something like that may be weaponized by government. Still, markets have a way of sorting that out.

So shall I! Great column!

Love the farting in a windtunnel quote! Excellent piece, as always.
