Spot on Peter.! You can also add Nike, Disney, and others to the woke case study that nobody learned anything from. In their cases the stock price shows it. Joe sixpack or regular Jane are just tired of these morons and don’t support the businesses. They are much like the Hollywood leftists that love to tell us how adolescent and uninformed we are.
Well said! Love the memes! I have to confess that a G-wagon is my ‘dream’ vehicle, but it was from the first one I saw, not as a status symbol but just because I love the boxy, heavy design. To me, it is reminiscent of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I got your point…. ; ). Another contrary to ‘traditional’ marketing is their display of supposedly fans of their product … the most miserable looking assortment I’ve ever seen. They are much appropriate advertising the euthanasia tube!
I recently bought a 2008 XKR convertible. I promised myself years ago I’d get a Jag in retirement. No way to
Afford a new one. I know it will be a money pit but only gonna but a couple of thousand miles a year on it during the summer. Never driven anything that comes close to the feel of it. If only Jags were reliable.
I predict that with the coming cleanout of government, a lot of "wealthy" 2-income families that wasted money on uber-riche baubles like these are going to be dumping the leases they have and trading down to sensible and affordable.
This one hits close to home. I bought a used Jaguar about 6 months ago. My 12 year old KIA was giving me subliminal signals that it was going the way of Joe Biden. I had been researching SUVs since I visit a lot of construction sites and wanted something with AWD and more ground clearance. The local Jag dealer had really good deals on the used lot, so I got a 2020 E-Pace with 40K miles for just over $20K. Being aware of service costs, I added a somewhat pricey warranty that covers pretty much anything and everything. So far I’ve had a damaged tire replaced, a chipped wheel fixed and even a door ding erased, all at no cost.
When I first saw the ad I felt like I was about to be taken to the Yellowstone train station. My first thought was whether I could sell it and recoup my money. I bought it outright so if I did it would at least feel like I got my money’s worth. That assumes anyone would want it now. I guess I’m going to stick with it though. I really like driving it, despite a few design flaws that seem too obvious to have been missed by Jaguar engineers. I’ve gotten some good-natured ribbing from the good old boys at the construction sites, and I always enjoy telling them that it cost about a quarter of what they paid for their F-250s.
I loved the Hitler rant parody. Those are always funny. I noticed that Jaguar’s X account is doubling down on all their detractors, essentially telling folks to not pass judgement until they see the next chapter. Nobody’s buying it. They’re also copping an elitist tone in the process, with the air of the all too familiar “we know better than you rubes” attitude that always seems to fail to win anyone over. It kind of reminds me of Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus doubling down after making egregious time management decisions that cost his team a chance to win yesterday. That was his Kamala I wouldn’t change a thing moment. Eberflus was canned.
So true Peter!

I'm banging out another bit on this matter right now, about the notion that "different" is necessarily "better."

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting Item_01 because you like it. Nor should its trendiness detract from your desire to have one.
My plaint is aimed at those who want one because *others* like it or because it'll make others think of you in a certain way.

If you mean the government parasites, I bet many land on their feet in the private sector. Rolodexes sell, unfortunately.
No question we will have the last laugh here!

Jaguar appears to be on the same path.
