Glad you reposted this. As you said, it's very fitting today, especially with the push for more alphabet soup "inclusions" for a very small group of people. I'd compare the government to helicopter parenting - keep the kid (us) out of danger at any cost while simultaneously keeping the kid (us) from learning from mistakes. And it's getting worse with the current administration.

Side note, I too like to have conversations/ arguments online out in the open, not on private message

Thanks.

This "white knight" behavior is the essence of the current form of progressivism, and it goes well back to the Obama days. It's completely antithetical to individuality and personal autonomy, which makes the "my body my choice" mantra all the more ironic. It explains so much of what the modern Left (and I draw a sharp distinction between them and liberals, because there is nothing liberal in this) does, says, and wants.

Look at welfare, at climate change, at the pandemic response, at education, at DEI, and on and on, and in all of these we see People of Privilege (a recent blog you might recall) deciding things for the rest of us, ostensibly as stand-ins for those they've decided need their help, but in truth to impose their own will on everyone. The people they supposedly stand up for often don't *want* what's being done for them.
