If you want to understand why young people embrace nonsense like socialism and communism, then consider what their experience has been under capitalism. Though, it might be more honest to describe that a lot of what we have today is at best "crony capitalism' not robust capitalism. It doesn't help either that many of them have never had any experience with refugees fleeing to our nation for freedom.

I disagree wholeheartedly that it's actual personal experience. It is a narrative that has been fed to them by people who have spent their lives insulated from the real world and who tell them that the problems they perceive are the fault of a capitalism that doesn't really exist.

Rather than teach them about the history of the various economic models - the real history, not the make up crap and mislaid blame - and let them think for themselves based on that history, they teach kids that capitalism is at fault for things that are actually caused by not-capitalism.

They also tell rich kids in America that their lives are miserable, when in fact they are miles better than almost everywhere else in the world.

There is truth in what you say but younger generations associate capitalism with inflation, economic downturns and not being able to get ahead as did earlier generations. Home ownership is a sore point. You can rightly point out that these are not truly the fault of capitalism but perception is reality unfortunately. By the way, I see a button on this page about "Upgrade to founding". What exactly is that?

"younger generations associate capitalism with inflation, economic downturns and..."

Are they correct in doing so? Shouldn't we point out when they are not, and also point out that they have been fed a load of BS?

Isn't that one of the points of doing such as I do here?

There is a higher tier of membership created by FB, but I haven't set any additional benefits for it, so you can ignore it.

But, how will they find out? Let's be honest, I doubt that a lot of the younger generation have even seen a robust defense of capitalism. Sorry, I'm just being pessimistic this morning. A number of hard things (which I won't bore you with) have happened this last weekend.

They will find out if you and I point it out whenever we encounter them extolling Marxism. Such as me blogging about it.

Best wishes for a better week.

Q) "What will be your position after communism is achieved?"

A) "Horizontal, in a ditch. Whether from hunger or gun shot."

The “education” system has been infected for well over half a century, slowly and gradually eroding the tenets of our constitutional republic. Like raising the temperature of water gradually, the frog does not realize he is boiling to his death. Just as many have not realized the gradual lack of teaching constitutional studies and civics, purposefully, to create an ignorant populous, so that the political elite would enact their unconstitutional will with the least resistance possible. The temperature is over 200*, and very shortly, if we do not turn the tide of the constitutional corruption, if we continue to remain to be silent and complacent, or just lose motivation because it is a steep uphill battle, at this point, we will boil, as the frog, without a fight, to the death of the country and the principles with which it was founded.
