Put me in the mind of Harrison Bergeron.

I think that *some* people would love to see “2081” come quicker! Just my “.02,” but, I have a suspicion that the Left is exploiting recent tragedies to try to get more gun control (and Canada *has* done that recently) because they want more control. I think they want control because they realize that there will be resistance - possibly armed - to many of their collectivist, Utopian schemes.

Exploiting tragedies for more government is as old as government.

I don't think most of them think that deeply - it's "stimulus, response," like lab rats.

To elaborate, I don't think that there are many on the Left who actually contemplate the notion of Red State America engaging in a big uprising with their guns. That's obvious from so much of the dismissive rhetoric re 2A's explanatory clause, in part because they cannot imagine their glorious government actually being perceived as oppressive by any more than a handful of easily handleable preppers, and in part because they have such a low opinion of the Right that they think it's all just weekend warrior gun fetish.

The first thing that came to mind was Instagram and TicTok "stars" or "influencers". That I think has been the biggest culprit in killing pride. Kids who grew up on social media see these people getting instant notoriety and big paydays and think "I can do that too". There's little work involved most of the time. Just find something juicy to post and bam, instant fame. It's really no wonder many people have little work ethic these days

The meaning of life - human life - is to strive, to work to improve things, first for our own benefit and then for the benefit of others. We are programmed from an evolutionary perspective to design, build, grow and harvest the fruits of our effort. To work hard and overcome the risks of nature. All else is just "existing" - a life devoid of meaning.

The collectivist impulse attacks the very meaning of life itself, first externally by appropriating the fruits of labor and then internally by socially denigrating those who strive as "selfish". That guy sitting in front of the TV? He's not selfish, he's just existing. Don't blame him!

The guy in front of the TV is just a symptom. He's a product of a system that has beaten ambition out of him.
