There *can* be more than one inflection point in the cultural-political timeline, of course, but in this case I'm speaking of the broader population's timidity regarding the demands of the radical Left's "woke" agenda, especially at the ballot box rather than the evolution of the culture itself.

As in, the commingling of biologically male athletes with biologically female athletes in women's sports is a "bridge too far" for enough voters of a more "traditionally" liberal mindset. A "too far" sufficient to tip electoral balances, just as CRT in ELHI curricula tipped suburban parents in Virginia away from the Democrat.

Both are illustrative of people's growing understanding of the true nature of these far-left viewpoints and agendas, an understanding that's producing increased rejection.

The point here, and it can be elaborated several-fold, is that the Left has foregone liberalism in favor of authoritarianism, and liberals should be comfortable in rejecting it.
