A mere four years after the morons who ran my home state shuttered the Indian Point nuclear plant, because global warming climate change climate catastrophe carbon-is-the-devil and because their arrogance convinced them they could legislate miracle wind and solar power into an effective and reliable reality, the morons who run my home state admitted error.
The Green Dream of Wind and Solar as a reliable, cost effective alternative is a nightmare in real world applications. Nuclear is great but the overwhelming regulatory burden makes them too expensive right now. Maybe this changes under Trump, it certainly has potential too.
The Three Mile Island incident was a psy-op of biblical proportion. Nuclear energy is safe and clean and efficient. A “meltdown” was not imminent, yet it was pushed hard in the media. By whom??? Big oil, I suspect. But it doesn’t matter. Could you imagine how far we’d be in the nuclear power realm if that psy-op didn’t happen???
Great post, Peter! I too have for years asked similar questions re nuclear power to the net zero crowd. It is rare to find a single net zero nitwit😵💫😵💫 who appreciates the carbon free power generation provided by nuclear power. It is more likely to get an astonished look from that crowd that reads “How can you possibly ask such a question?” The combination of brainwashing that carbon is bad and nuclear is unacceptable reveals the lack of seriousness of this crowd. Their desire is less a carbon free environment (in which all humans would perish) than it is control over people and resources.

Absolutely, the Best-and-Brightest saw and see global warming as a means of taking control of economies and undermining capitalism and liberty itself.
