An Internet friend and fellow blogger (check out his Substack here), recently made the point that poverty is no longer a significant element in identifying the oppressed.
That last line really nails the problem well. Looking back, it was the times of greatest struggle that I had the least amount of time to assess my plight, and "fight for change" so to speak. I was too busy trying to survive. The people with all this energy to "fight" for whatever cause that's popular in that moment ("racism", climate change, etc) are probably secure financially/ emotionally in their everyday lives. I'm guessing most black people would feel the same while looking at these white "allies" fighting for their "cause"
Well, I *had* another potential column in there somewhere! This is the challenge to my "style" of writing: I think way too long on a topic before deciding to write something - and by then, someone else has said everything there needs to be said about the subject. But it's all good - we feed each other ideas all the time, taking off where others have left off for sake of brevity and staying on topic.
"First word problems, indeed." Had to read that several times wondering if word/world was intended. He, she, zhe. First word problems, indeed.
Amusingly, or perhaps serendipitously, that was a typo. I think I'll leave it. Nice catch.
You hit that one out of the park!

Many "allies" set the terms of their alliance.
