Perhaps the Democratic Party will do some soul searching, see the need to drop the oppressed victim coalition and return to their supposed roots, looking after the regular folks. I wonder what the odds makers would give on that?
My husband’s been following Rasmussen for the past couple of months, and they’ve been predicting this pretty much all along. If Trump takes MI, AZ & NV, Rasmussen will have called it exactly right, to the state.
So the Republicans put up a candidate that most of the country hates, who's been multiply impeached and indicted and married and bragged about groping women - yet the Democrats could not defeat him. Says a lot about their crummy "strategy".
I hope that both parties realize the importance of the filibuster. And if the GOP controls both Congress and the White House then the onus is on them to get things done.
For what it's worth, Decision Desk HQ (used by News Nation, which I was watching) called the election for Trump when he reached a projected 270 EVs at 1:23 AM. Chris Stirewalt (who went through all the nonsense in 2020 with Trump over AZ, which he and Fox News correctly called for Biden over Trump's whining) is political director for News Nation, so I figured that they wouldn't be intimidated by the possibility of complaining politicos . . . and they were not.
The Republicans deserve their day of celebration for a victory well fought and won. But lest they forget: they've been training "at altitude" for years and were ready for a tough fight THIS time - and yet, their opponent was a terrible candidate, installed at the last minute, in a political environment with all the odds and issues stacked against her. Yes, she had mountains of cash behind her - likely a bunch of it illegal. On the issues, Trump should have been able to beat any candidate they put up. So don't take the wrong lesson from this victory and don't let THIS victory define your next strategy. The Democrats will learn from this defeat; Republicans should be careful they don't think this is how it will be the next time.
I'll be magnanimous and "like" your comment today. The Republicans haven't found the candidate yet who could have served as the matador to this bullfight. They have a solid bench of picadors in the arena, but there's more to winning than just provoking the bull. I think you'll find in the months ahead that Trump is possessed of a great deal more than what it took to just win this race. Imagine what it's going to take to disassemble the intel community, the State Department, the DOJ, FBI and the raft of corruption at CDC, FDA and NIH - not to mention the disinformation nannies. These people made it PERSONAL for Trump and nobody else quite has his motivation for what's coming.
Back in 2016 Trump was a political novice. He's since learned that leading a party is vital. His worst enemy is his own mouth. Perhaps he'll learn to rein that in too.
What a great comprehensive listing of the reasons for the demise of the Democrats for this election cycle. I'm filing it for reference. I've spent far too much time today scrolling through X and other social media, and taking way too much pleasure watching the complete meltdowns of insane liberals, mostly but not exclusively females. I'm not sure why they insist of posting their moments of insanity online, but it sure is fun to watch.

As the Brits would say, brill.

If Trump were someone else, running the same issues, he'd have won a real landslide.

Liberal tears taste the sweetest.

Ditto!
I’ve been reading for almost 18 hours now, this is the most gratifying read yet! You never disappoint!
What we need now is a betting market for whether or not the country will descend into a fascist dictatorship in the next 4 years. I'd be all in.
"I felt that the Dems really needed to lose after all they've done to us, no matter that the alternative was Trump." In a nutshell .
