Even if man-made global climate change were a proven - vice speculative - fact (and no ethical scientist can yet claim this) we will still have very COLD weather to deal with until an economically viable solution emerges. We will still have "multi-generational" cold winters, "bomb cyclones" and blizzards to experience in the interim. It is the height of irresponsibility to base today's policy on what "could be" at the expense of what will be. And natural gas IS clean - producing only water vapor and CO2, while nuclear produces nothing. It's like they NEED us to be shivering and miserable.

In addition, NG produces 1/4 the atmospheric carbon that coal does, AND produces none of coal's particulate pollution (particulate pollution deaths are estimated at 15,000 per year in the US alone).

We should be building modular, common-design nuke plants like crazy, for us and for our allies, and drilling/exporting NG like crazy for the rest of the world.

That'd have the added benefit of undercutting both Russia and OPEC.

not quite a foot of snow but just shows you have to plan for the worse case

1st and foremost... again with the Great Columns! Thank you for thoughtful, honest reporting.

On the central topic:

--(emotional response) Screw them, their lies, their neurotic tirades, their souless lives. May they find the reward they so richly deserve, soon then later. The greenies, the pseudo-'betters', the haters-of-homo-sapiens, let their loathing turn inward. They say cut the population, perhaps they should lead the way. Cuomo, along with his apparatus, ------ drumhead.

--(logical response) Sadder but wiser we will be; after these witless fools finally move the center to take action and by opposing, end the woke-a-cidal behaviors.

There are unending facts, well-formed rationales, and simple/sound logic that support a wiser approach. But the year is at an end, the home fires need stoking, and for now tending those we love with kind words and hope takes precedence. May all of you have a chance to welcome in a New Year with joy, hope, and a renewed effort to right this ship atilt in the gales of stupidity.

I attended U of Buffalo during the Blizzard of ‘77, and when I graduated I promptly moved to Fort Lauderdale. I still live in Florida and plan to stay here for the duration. BTW, more people died at Chappaquiddick than at Three Mile Island!!!

There are those who understand the farce of anthropological climate change, and push it to increase their power and wealth. There are also, in vastly larger numbers, the poorly educated true believers and accepting followers. Neither group are open to persuasion. Both groups out number the rest of us.

What's laughable is when they reject assertions that AGW has been overstated. The evidence is plain as day - dozens of predictions made across the past 40 years have failed to materialize. This is not debatable.

Yet, AGW supposedly remains as dire a threat to the planet as ever, in their minds, and even more so given that we haven't done what they've demanded. They've lost their collectivist minds.

Today, the NYT ran yet another Malthusian dying planet bit of garbage, and the columnist suggested that short people are better for the Earth.

Someone should remind her that height discrimination is a no-no in modern woke-ism.
