I think that most GOP'ers today would classify someone who had the first gay couple to stay overnight at the White House as a RINO. I think that most GOP'ers today would classify someone who ran up big deficits as a RINO. I think that most GOP'ers today would classify someone who compromised on major issues like social security with the Dems as a RINO. In other words, most GOP'ers today would call Reagan a RINO.
"Most" is a tough word - it implies statistical knowledge. I've seen RINO most used nowadays against anyone who doesn't support Trump, but the big question is - how many Trump supporters are loyalists, and how many are simply "better than Biden" pragmatists who'd support another solid GOP candidate?
Most people know the term RINO. However it's not all it implies. Lindsey Graham would be a perfect example. He talks s good strong game, but really work with the "deep state." Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't know of any wars that he opposed or voted for until long after it started. That's also a part of what a RINO is. He has company, Romney, and the departed McCain are other examples.
But, again, the question I have is "what is a true Republican?" Republican In Name Only suggests there are either core values of Republicanism or a correct set of Republican goals that the "team" pursues.
I'm the wrong person, for I'm not Democrat or Republican. I do not like party. I'm registered No Party. Do you really believe that for values of Republicanism or Democrat still exist? I much prefer Statesman of the old, like Patrick Monahan among others of the sort.
Peter, let me ask you: are you a registered Republican and not registered as a Libertarian? Is that because, as a practical matter, voting Libertarian is little better than sky-screaming?

Good article - as always!

There you go again, Peter, writing a great blog! ❤️❤️❤️

New York has closed primaries, so I registered GOP just to be able to vote there.
Where I live, my vote is utterly meaningless, so I vote LP whenever possible, just to help keep the numbers up.
