Here's what I wrote the day after the riot. If Trump had simply put forth a forceful flat-out rejection of the riot, things would be a lot better now. It wouldn't have to have been a long protracted condemnation, but rather a simple "Stop it! This is NOT what I want and this is NOT how you should act," the nation would have moved on.
