The “root cause” was every single Democrat presidential candidate stating they were in favor of providing free healthcare to all third world entrants. That’s all it took.

Would Biden resigning shortly before the election give Harris a boost in the election.

It depends. If Harris could enter the WH and appear effective, it'll help. If, on the other hand, she makes a hash of a few weeks in the Oval Office, it'd hurt.

The handlers and how well she can be kept off mike other than for prepared speeches would be the difference.

Unless she's already tapped exceptionally competent people to restaff the office immediately upon taking over, I don't expect any notable difference from the WH in such a short time frame. Seems unlikely to move the needle, to me.

If she took office before starting her first official term, wouldn't she be unable to run for a second term in her own right as President?

No. She'd have to be President at least two years in order to be disqualified from a second elected term.

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term."

22nd Ammendment. It was passed in 1951 during the Truman administration. His predecessor FDR had been elected into office an unprecedented four times.

Perfect opening line, "That didn't take long." Did we see the slight-of-hand?

Yes, Harris is a "nothing". Except for how amenable she is/will be to following orders.

Goes to show how the media (is controlled) to "retcon" the situation, turning the entire story around.

Meanwhile, what has happened to the *little* issue of an assassination attempt!? Apparently, that is bygone news and lost in the shuffle.

I watch several YouTube channels regularly. I found it notable that I hadn't seen much/anything from ActBlue in the ads prior to July 22. Suddenly, the very day after the Biden resignation goes public, I'm getting ActBlue ads featuring Kamala on every video I watch (I have ad personalization off). There's no way these weren't pre-recorded and the ad contracts in place already. It's not explicit that she's running for president in the ads, but it's definitely implicit. At the least, they were keeping their powder dry for this contingency.

It appears that Kamala is the one speaking for the WH in tweets at this point. Seems like a de facto handoff without the baton.
