If Trump hadn't openly said that he was going to use the law to take revenge on his "enemies" then I think you would have a stronger case against pardons that could be issued by Biden. Of course, the pardon of Hunter was a big thumb in the eye to justice.

Well, it depends if they pursue actual malfeasance, as opposed to the lawfare that has been waged by the Dems on everyone else. I know some on the Right want payback, but lawfare is wrong no matter who perpetrates it.

I will wait and see what he actually does before casting judgment. By now, you should know that closely parsing Trump's words is pointless.

Goodness knows that there's plenty of malfeasance to address. We will have to wait and see. Do you think that we need to address the pardon power of the President through a constitutional amendment?

No. So, it gets abused from time to time. That's what, as you often note, ballot boxes are for. Vote against the party that put the malpracticer in office.

“Parsing Trump’s words is pointless.” Indeed!!! He has a habit of being rash and hyperbolic in the moment. His exaggerations are legendary.

He also stated that his only retribution was winning the election. What are we to believe?

I wait and see. Trying to read Trump's mind is folly.

The madness…… the ruling class and bureaucrats are setting this country up for a serious crisis. Hopefully Trump and team can get a handle on this and reverse course…..

"...setting up for..."

We're already in serious crisis and have been for awhile.

It becomes clearer by the day that much of DC must be burned to the ground. There is so much corruption burrowed into virtually every agency that modest changes will never have the necessary impact. Fire them all 🔥🔥🔥

So sad and such a tremendous waste, this govt of ours. Fauci deserves no less than prison. Period. The powers that be have successfully done away with justice.

Even if Biden grants these sweeping and preemptive pardons, can the Trump administration at least just release much of whatever the evidence is to the public? While many of these people certainly deserve a legal comeuppance, the whole process is agonizingly slow and tedious with no guaranteed satisfactory outcome. At this point, I'd settle for a massive dose of sunlight.

I question whether it is even legal to pardon someone when no crime has been identified, arrest or conviction has taken place yet. It was my understand there needed to be something to pardon before a pardon could be given.

I've been reading a bit at NR and elsewhere about this. Apparently, they would have to admit to some wrongdoing in the pardon process, and some might not want to do that.

I don’t see any one admitting wrong doing of any kind. Nor do I see any of the listed for possible pardons needing to be pardoned. The dog and pony show of investigations by the federal government is just a show to be wheeled out as a distraction when needed I believe.

Peter, does the recent news of several government agents being in the J6 crowd and present inside the Capitol have any relevance to the subject of the events of that day? I ask not because I think it does but because I would like to hear your opinion of the subject.
